Adrian's baptism in snow!

Yesterday was a first in Immanuel Community history – a baptism whilst snow lay on the ground!  Since we have no built-in baptistery, when someone asks to be baptised we use an inflatable baptistery, which resembles an extra-deep paddling pool.

The weather was mild for the time of year when Adrian Blythe asked to be baptised.  When the snow fell the night before the event, he was not to be deterred.  So it was that the community met together for a time of worship at which Adrian shared his testimony with us.  He has experienced the love and power of God in his life and when challenged to say ‘yes’ to Jesus and commit his life to him, he responded with a resounding ‘yes.’  His baptism was his public demonstration of dying to his old life and rising to his new life in Jesus.

Everyone stood around in the snow while Adrian confessed his faith in God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – then he was briefly submerged in the cold water by his house church leaders, Peter and Sarah.

It was great fun and a real privilege to be part of the event. I was amazed that, firstly, Adrian wanted to continue in the snow, and secondly, by how many braved the elements to be there! Not many get baptised in a paddling pool in the snow, and maybe it just characterises something of the unusual and also exciting journey that Adrian is going to have in his walk with the Holy Spirit!

So disappointed to have missed it. If it had not been for getting stuck in Epping Forest in the snow and dark late at night and with no phone signal we would not have had to return to Dave and Gill's for the night and would have been there. Blessings to Adrian.

Love After Marriage

Friday 11th April 2014

Love After Marriage (LAM) is a marriage course like no other, which we ourselves have had the privilege of doing... The course is not so much pastoral in nature, but rather apostolic meaning that it is about creating a culture where marriages thrive. We believe God is wanting for there to be a revival of relationships meaning relationships, including marriages, which reflect Heaven's heart and model for them.
