Statement of Faith

We believe that the one true God exists eternally in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power and glory.  We believe that God not only created the world but also now upholds, sustains, governs, and providentially directs all that exists and that he will bring all things to their proper consummation in Christ Jesus.  He is distinct and separate from his creation, the transcendent God, yet immanent and knowable through relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man; that he was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered himself as a penal, substitutionary sacrifice for sinners.  By his blood shed on the cross, he obtained eternal redemption for us and the forgiveness of sins so that we can be saved, restored, healed, delivered and have everlasting life.  He was raised bodily on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father, where he is our high priest and advocate.

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus and his resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe.  Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.  We believe that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and that no-one comes to the Father except through him.  No ordinance, ritual, work or any other activity on the part of man is required or accepted in order to be saved.  This saving grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, also sanctifies us by enabling us to do what is pleasing in God's sight in order that we might be progressively conformed to the image of Christ.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent by Jesus to the world after he had ascended to heaven.  He came to glorify Jesus during this age and to convict men of sin.  Through conversion and regeneration men are born again.  The Holy Spirit then indwells, guides, empowers, anoints and instructs them for godly living and service and in order to fulfil their witness, calling, ministry and mission.

We believe that Jesus baptises believers in the Holy Spirit, sealing them for the day of redemption.  We also believe that miracles, signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament, are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom and to empower and edify the Church.

We believe the Bible in its entirety is the inspired word of God.  We believe it was inspired by the Holy Spirit and given to mankind as the supreme authority on all matters of faith and establishes the way we are to live our lives.  We believe it can be understood by everyone, and that it contains everything pertaining to life and Godliness, as the Holy Spirit brings revelation.  It is, in a word, God’s self-revelation.

We believe that the true church is made up of everyone who has been born again into God’s Kingdom by trusting in Jesus’ redeeming sacrifice on the cross.  It is God's primary instrument, through which he is fulfilling his redemptive purposes in the earth.  To equip the saints for the work of ministry, God has given the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.  We affirm the priesthood of all believers and the importance of every Christian being joined with and actively involved in a local community of the saints.

The church is the Bride of Christ, eagerly awaiting his return as her Bridegroom King.  The work of the church on earth as the Body of Christ is to continue the work Jesus did by displaying God’s kingdom in signs and wonders, to answer the prayer of Jesus that ‘they may be one even as we are one’, to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth and to call for God’s kingdom rule to be manifest here on earth, as it is in heaven.  We believe that the Church will go through the Great Tribulation in great power and victory and that she will be raptured to meet the Lord in the air at the end of the Great Tribulation, from where she will return to the earth to rule and reign with Jesus.

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances of the Church to be observed until the time of Jesus’ return.  They are not a means of salvation, but are channels of God's sanctifying grace and blessing.

We believe in the literal, visible, tangible, bodily return of Jesus.  At his second coming he will consummate his Millennial Kingdom, centred in Jerusalem, in which believers from every tribe, tongue, people and nation will participate.  Everyone will see him and recognise him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  We believe he will firstly claim his Bride, the Church, and then judge the world. We believe there will be a day of resurrection when everyone will face their Maker.  There will be a separation between those who have been saved by the work of Jesus on the cross and received the gift of eternal life, and those who have not.  The consequence of being unsaved on that day will be separation from God for eternity in hell.

We believe that right from the beginning the Israelites have been God’s chosen people, and instrumental in his salvation plan.  It is through Abraham’s family that all the nations of the world are blessed; and Israel’s greatest king, David, received a promise that there would be a king from his line for eternity.  Jerusalem, David’s (and now Israel’s) capital city is the joy of the whole earth and central to Jesus’ Millennial reign.  Jesus was born in Israel, to a Jewish family, and through him the promises made to Israel find their fulfilment.  Salvation is for all, Jew and Gentile alike.  The Gentiles have been grafted in to the original rootstock.  The land of Israel, promised to Abraham, lost for centuries but now re-established, will host the most momentous events in our world’s history.

We believe that Satan, originally the great and good angel Lucifer, rebelled against God, taking a multitude of angels with him.  He was cast out of God's presence and is at work with his demonic hosts to establish his counter-kingdom of darkness, evil, and unrest on earth.  Satan was judged and defeated at the cross of Christ and will be cast forever into the lake of fire which has been prepared for him and his angels.
